Electric Appliance Usage

Electric consumption of appliances varies. The amount of electricity used is calculated in kilowatt-hours (kWh). One kWh is the amount of electricity a 100-watt light bulb uses in 10 hours. The formula below allows you to estimate the cost (per month) of operating electric appliances:

Estimated Monthly Cost =    30.4 * $0.106 * watts * hours/day
                                                                      1,000

Estimated monthly cost = the product of 30.4 days in a month times $0.106 per kilowatt-hour times the appliance wattage times the hours per day divided by 1,000
