MPEI’s billing procedures were established to encourage timely bill payment. As a not-for-profit,
consumer-owned cooperative, MPEI is able to maintain affordable rates partly because of
your prompt payments. |

| Transfer of Service |

First-time MPEI residential customers must pay a three-month deposit * or provide a satisfactory letter of credit from their former utility company. New commercial accounts are also required to pay the deposit*. For more information, contact MPEI’s Billing Department at 970-887-3378 or toll-free 877-887-3378. |

*Deposits are calculated using the prior account's consumption history and are held for one
year, accruing interest at 1.3 percent. MPEI will apply the deposit plus interest to
your account after receiving one year of prompt payments. |

New homeowners and renters, please contact us at 970-887-3378 to transfer the electric service to your name. To obtain electric service, you must also complete and sign an application at the Granby or Walden office (or it can be mailed to you). New homeowners and renters will be charged a $13 Change-of-Records Fee. If the account has not been transferred by the normal meter-reading date, there will be an additional $46 Special Read Fee assessed to the requesting party.
Customers are charged $46 for disconnecting or reconnecting a meter. To reconnect a meter after hours, customers are charged $69. |
