The Grand County Library District’s new Granby Library has been honored for its distinctive architecture by receiving the 2006 A1A Merit Award for design. Gracing the cover of the December 15, 2006 issue of Library Journal, the Granby Library is an exquisitely designed building, adding a breath of freshness and an air of elegance to a town rebuilt. The Grand County Library District and its talented design professionals have received numerous awards. The Colorado Association of Libraries named the Grand County Library District as the 2005 Library of the Year. The design firm for the Granby Library, Humphries/Poli Architects, was named the 2005 American Architectural Association (A1A) Denver Architectural Firm.
Andrew Carnegie, the great philanthropist, founded public libraries in the United States to provide free access to information resources for all citizens. The libraries in our towns open their doors to new adventures in reading, resources, online explorations---benefiting all residents, second homeowners, and people traveling through –all a part in building a better and stronger community.
