Nearly every part of MPE’s service area has Pine Beetle infested trees. There are literally thousands of trees that are dead or are dying from this infestation. Many of these trees are on private property and outside MPE’s right-of-way but could fall into the electric high voltage lines. Other infected trees on private property could be near overhead low voltage secondary services that serve homes and businesses. Because of the shear magnitude of infested trees and the concern of fire danger, MPE has bee inundated with calls from consumers asking if MPE will cut and remove the dead and dying trees.
