Since 1995, Mountain Parks Electric, Inc. (MPEI) has sponsored
the Rural Electric Youth Tour, a national program that educates
high school juniors about electric cooperatives, American
history and government. Youth tour participants attend
educational history and government. Youth tour participants
attend educational seminars, visit with their representatives in
the House and the Senate and tour Washington D.C.
From the time MPEI became involved with the program, it has
awarded an all-expense paid, one-week trip to Washington
D.C. for one high school junior in both Jackson and Grand
Counties for the best energy-related project . Past winners
have characterized this trip as a life-changing experience. The
second place winner will receive an all-expense-paid trip to
the Youth Leadership Camp in Clark, Colorado in July. |
